This Sunday (27) Republican candidate Donald Trump’s last big rally in New York was marked by aggressive speeches against Latinos and several insults towards Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
Tony Hinchcliffe, a comedian invited by the former president to warm up the audience, made racist and xenophobic insults, even calling Puerto Rico “floating garbage island”.
On the stage, during his speech, Hinchcliffe said he welcomes immigrants with open arms while signaling otherwise. He used profanity, prejudiced jokes and a barrage of stereotypes to offend Latinos, Jews and Palestinians.
The comedian referred to Puerto Rico, a US territory where 3.2 million Americans live, as “an island of floating rubbish” and said that the Latinos “they love making babies”. “There’s a floating island of trash in the middle of the ocean. I think it’s called Puerto Rico.”

Hinchcliffe called Palestinians stone-throwers and Jews mean-spirited, and even reproduced a racist joke suggesting that black people are lazy and primitive.
Like Hinchcliffe, other speakers present at Trump’s rally made various racist and misogynistic insults against Kamala Harris, candidate for the Democratic party, calling her the antichrist and making comparisons to a prostitute.
Turker Carlson, a far-right presenter, referred to the candidate as “the first low-IQ, Samoan-Malaysian former California prosecutor to be elected president.”
During his one hour and twenty minute speech, the Republican candidate once again accused immigrants of being criminals, and said he intends to launch the largest deportation program in America.
Donald Trump’s campaign justified itself through a statement, signed by advisor Danielle Alvarez, stating that the statements “do not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign.”
The prejudiced and aggressive speeches also caused reactions from the public, including from Latin celebrities. On his Instagram, Ricky Martin wrote “That’s what they think of us. Vote for @kamalaharris”. Other artists such as Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez and Luis Fonsi spoke out on social media and declared support for Kamala Harris.
