The Dutch hockey players won the European title on Sunday in Amstelveen. The team of national coach Alyson Annan was too strong for Germany in the final of the European Championship, 2-0.

The Dutch led at the start of the second quarter through a goal by Marloes Keetels, who was in the right place to work in from a penalty corner on the instructions of Caia van Maasakker.

Germany then put a lot of pressure on the Netherlands, but failed to force the equaliser. In the closing stages, Frédérique Matla made it 2-0 from a counter.

The Netherlands was in a final of a European Championship for the thirteenth time. Of those finals, the Dutch team won eleven, including this year and in 2019. The European title was also won in 1984, 1987, 1995, 1999, 2003, 2005, 2009, 2011 and 2017.

On Saturday, the Dutch hockey men also secured the European title. The team of national coach Max Caldas settled with Germany after shoot-outs in the final.
