Last Friday (27), the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes (PSD), announced a free megashow on the sands of Copacabana Beach in May 2025. Similar to Madonna, which took place in the same month, this year, the expectation is to welcome a great artist — or perhaps the pop diva, Lady Gaga, to the Celebration May.

In an interview with CBN RioPaes reported that there is a confidentiality agreement that prevents him from telling at the moment, but in January the official announcement comes. “They think the mayor talks too much (…) I heard that people really like Lady Gaga”he said.

And, recently, the undersecretary of events and institutional relations at the State Secretariat for Culture and Creative Economy of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Castro, stated that it would be among the new features of 2025. “The State Government is investing R$40 million in Carnival (…), after that comes Lady Gaga”he said.

Capital of megashows

After investments in Port Maravalleycalling Rio de Janeiro the capital of innovation, the city is striving to become an influential reference in major musical events. From 2025, the Celebration May takes place every first Saturday in May to consolidate the city as a stage for renowned artists.
