Elon Musk gets a place on the board of Twitter

Elon Musk is assigned a place on the board of Twitter. The company announced this on Tuesday, a day after the news that Musk has taken a 9.2 percent stake in Twitter. This makes him the largest shareholder of the social media platform on which he is also very active.

That Musk has taken a stake in the company was revealed earlier this week from documents filed with the American stock market watchdog SEC.

Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal now announces that Musk will become a director.

“In conversations over the past few weeks, it became clear to us that he would be an asset to our board,” he wrote on Twitter.

“He’s a passionate fan and strong critic of our service and that’s exactly what’s needed on Twitter and in the boardroom to make us stronger in the long run.”

Furthermore, Twitter says that Musk will not expand his stake to more than 14.9 percent as long as he is a board member. His term runs until 2024.
