It could have been an accidental deletion, you deleted an email by mistake and it went to the Trash, for example. Deleted emails go to the Trash, where they remain for 30 days before being permanently removed.

How to recover email that disappeared in Gmail

Find out what the main chances are for one or more messages to disappear from your main Inbox. Following are some steps you can follow to recover 'lost' email in Gmail.

Check Trash and Spam

Sometimes emails may automatically be sent to the junk or spam folder. In Gmail, go to the “Trash” and “Spam” section to see if the messages are there. If you find the email, you can move it back to your inbox.

Use the Search Bar

Gmail lets you search for messages using keywords, dates, and even the sender's name. In the search bar, try words that would likely be in the message to make it easier to find.

Check filters and rules configuration

In “Settings” > “Filters and blocked addresses”, see if any filters or rules are automatically redirecting emails to the trash or another folder. Remove or adjust any filters that are affecting your receipt of important messages.

Check on external email clients

If you use an email app to sync Gmail (like Outlook or Apple Mail), make sure the app's setting is set to automatically delete emails or move them to a specific folder.

Disable Categories

Reorganize Emails

Check your Inbox configuration
