Christian Eriksen has made his first brief noise since becoming unwell in Denmark’s European Championship game against Finland on Saturday.
The Danish is still in a hospital in Copenhagen.
“I feel better now, but I want to know exactly what happened,” Eriksen told Italian newspaper Through his agent Martin Schoots . “I want to thank everyone for the support I have received. I’m not giving up.” (Eriksen responds via manager)
The 29-year-old Eriksen became unwell at the end of the first half against Finland and had to be resuscitated on the pitch. The midfielder regained knowledge fairly quickly and his condition is stable, but he has yet to remain in hospital for several days.
Federal doctor Morten Boesen confirmed at a press conference on Sunday that Eriksen had suffered a cardiac arrest, but that the cause is not yet known. ‘That’s why he has to stay in hospital for a few more days.’

According to Boesen, Eriksen was “completely gone” when he became unwell. “With the help of a defibrillator we got it back.
I don’t know how close we were to losing him for good, but after one attempt at the defibrillator, he was back. That’s pretty fast.” (Eriksen responds via manager)
Eriksen himself spoke to the players of Denmark, who decided to play the game with Finland (0-1-loss) on Saturday despite the events.
The team of national coach Kasper Hjulmand continues the European Championship on Thursday with a game against Belgium in Copenhagen.
