FC Barcelona moves to Olympic stadium in season 2023/2024,
FC Barcelona will finish its matches in the 2023/2024 season at the Estadi Lluís Companys de Montjuïc. The Catalans have to move to the Olympic stadium of Barcelona because the own home Camp Nou will be renovated in the coming years.

The City Council of Barcelona granted the top club a permit on Thursday, allowing the ‘Blaugranas’ to start the renovation of Camp Nou next summer.
Next season, FC Barcelona expects to be able to use almost the full capacity of Camp Nou during matches, despite the work. In the 2023/2024 season, that will be different, because in the summer of 2023 the demolition of the third ring of the iconic stadium will start.
‘Barça’ initially wanted to move to Estadi Johan Cruyff, the small stadium on the training complex. Now the olympic stadium has been chosen, in which athlete Ellen van Langen won Olympic gold in the 800 meters in 1992 and which has room for about 65,000 fans.
In the 2024/2025 season, Barcelona wants to return to Camp Nou, where about half of the seats will be available.
According to the current schedule, the work will be completed during the 2025/2026 season.

Barcelona has borrowed 1.5 billion euros
The club members of FC Barcelona already agreed with a large majority last December with the renovation and expansion plans for Camp Nou. For the ambitious project, the Spanish superpower takes out a loan of 1.5 billion euros.
Camp Nou, which opened in 1957, now seats nearly 100,000 spectators. After the renovation, there will be 110,000 seats.
The club management expects that ‘Barça’ will generate 200 million euros in extra income annually in the renovated stadium.
With this income, the financially troubled club hopes to be able to repay the loan within 35 years.
