FC Emmen wins at Copa América – Peru recorded their first victory at the Copa América on the night of Sunday to Monday (Dutch time) thanks in part to FC Emmen player Sergio Peña. The team of national coach Ricardo Gareca won 2-1 against Colombia.

Peña opened the scoring after 17 minutes in Goiana, Brazil. The midfielder fired in from close range in the rebound after goalkeeper David Ospina saw a long-range shot land on the post.

Just after half-time, Colombia were allowed to lay on for a penalty after a foul by goalkeeper Pedro Gallese, after which Miguel Borja made it 1-1. An own goal from Yerry Mina – the defender worked the ball out of a corner unfortunately with his chest in his own goal – put Peru ahead.

Goalscorer Peña was substituted in the 83rd minute. Former Feyenoord player Renato Tapia played the whole game for Peru and with Colombia there was a starting spot for former Ajacied Davinson Sánchez, who, like Tapia, played 90 minutes.
