According to the Ministry of Labor and Employment, the distribution of profits from the FGTS (Guarantee Fund for Length of Service) will be made by August 31st. It is estimated that the amount distributed to workers will reach R$15 billion. The rules remain the same as in previous years; any questions or problems can be resolved through the FGTS app.

Rules for participating in profit sharing

The amount will be distributed by Caixa Econômica and will follow the same rules as previous editions. Those who have already worked or work with a signed employment contract and still have a balance in the fund will be entitled to share the profits.

The money will be deposited in the fund and can be withdrawn in the event of unfair dismissal, in the month of your birthday or in extraordinary situations (public disasters, illness, retirement, when the member turns 70, to buy their own home and in other situations).

The amount to be received is calculated according to the amount present in the shareholder's fund, that is, the more money there is there, the greater the amount received in the profit sharing. The amount that will be used for the calculation will be the amount that was available on December 31, 2023.

What will be the FGTS yield?

The Service Time Guarantee Fund aims to provide financial security in case something happens to the worker. In recent years, the value was adjusted only by the Reference Rate.

The government estimates that the profitability of the FGTS will be above inflation, adjusted at 3% per year. In June, the STF decided that the fund's values will be adjusted by the inflation rate published by the IPCA (Broad National Consumer Price Index).

The council will determine how compensation will be made for years in which the value was not corrected by IPCA indexes.

In 2023, there was an additional gain of R$6.5 billion due to the renegotiation of investments by the Porto Maravilha Fund, a real estate investment fund. In addition, there was a good return on public investments and credits for urban housing, basic sanitation and urban mobility. Overall, the FGTS recorded an excellent profit of R$23.4 billion.

A meeting of the FGTS Board of Trustees has been scheduled for tomorrow (08) to confirm the distribution percentage. The information was received in a note by InfoMoney.
