Final Fantasy XVI and Resident Evil 4 Remake coming to PS5 next year

Final Fantasy XVI and Resident Evil 4 – At a presentation of Sony’s State of Play event, new games for the PlayStation 5 were announced on Thursday evening. Next year, the sixteenth installment in the long-running Final Fantasy series will appear. A remake of Resident Evil 4 was also announced, with virtual reality support.

Final Fantasy XVI

Final Fantasy XVI is the first completely new installment in the series in six years. A specific release date is not yet available, but the game should be released sometime in the summer of next year. The game was first shown in 2020, but had to deal with delays in production due to corona.

In a trailer shown, the combat system can be seen. That will be similar to the gameplay of 2020’s Final Fantasy VII Remake. The story revolves around people with superpowers, who gain control over deadly monsters.

Resident Evil 4 Remake gets virtual reality support

Resident Evil 4 Remake will be released on March 24, 2023. The game classic, which originally appeared in 2005, is being remade and released for the PlayStation 5. The game will also be playable on the PSVR2, Sony’s virtual reality headset for the PlayStation 5.

Lately, several games from the horror series Resident Evil have already been re-released. For example, previously remade versions of Resident Evil 2 and 3 appeared. Resident Evil 4 was an important part of the series, as it modernized the series with smoother controls and a camera behind the character.

New trailer for Horizon Call of the Mountain

The event also featured new footage from Horizon Call of the Mountain, a new installment in the Horizon series. This game is made entirely for the PSVR2. When it comes out, is not yet known.

People play with Ryas, who has to stop a new danger. As in other Horizon games, this part also takes place on a colorful island where dangerous beastly machines roam. In virtual reality, players will include climbing and archery as they progress through the story.
