Fine after killing Tamar (14) from Marken

The man arrested last year in the investigation into the death of 14-year-old Tamar, from Marken, has been fined. It has not been established that the German “can be blamed for serious traffic errors,” according to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Tamar left her home on the night of July 25 after an argument over bedtime. The police later found her body in the roadside of the Zeedijk between Marken and Monnickendam. According to the inquest, she died instantly.

‘The investigation has established that the girl was run over by the suspect’s car and died as a result. It remained unclear how she ended up on the road,” the DA’s office explained.

According to the PROSECUTION, there is no evidence that the driver “would have driven recklessly or significantly carelessly.” The German was driving at about 60 kilometers per hour where 80 is allowed. Because the man was looking at his phone at the time of the accident, he will be fined. This is higher than usual due to the fatal outcome of the accident.

Police eventually came across CCTV footage of the then 28-year-old man. He was arrested in September. The man was suspected of leaving the scene of the accident but was allowed to await the investigation freely.
