Fire hits Vila dos Pecadores, in Cubatão, and leaves dozens of families homeless

On the morning of this Monday (16), at around 8:40 am a fire hit Vila dos Pescadores, in Cubatão (SP). The fire was controlled at around 11:20 am, as reported by the State Civil Defense, which reported that the flames had ended.

According to initial information, the fire started on Caminho São Jorge. However, the causes of the fire have not yet been discovered by the competent authorities, who continue to search for answers. The Fire Department cooled the affected areas to prevent the fire from reigniting. To fight the flames, 13 vehicles and 40 professionals were mobilized.

There are disagreements regarding the number of homes destroyed. Civil Defense estimates that around 100 homes were consumed by the fire, while Cubatão City Hall states that more than 150 homes were affected.

Victims

Fortunately, there were no reports of casualties in the fire. However, the City Hall sent teams from the Health Department to the site to provide assistance to residents. Nurses, doctors, nursing assistants and psychologists were mobilized to the region, accompanied by a Samu ambulance that remained on site for any emergencies.

Community assistance

The teams are committed to providing full support to the community. The State Civil Defense Emergency Management Center (CGE) reported that it is distributing humanitarian aid materials to affected residents.

In addition, teams from the Social Assistance and Housing Departments are registering residents at the Community Center. The aim is to ensure that affected families receive the support they need.

Through the Cubatão Social Solidarity Fund, donations of essential items (such as water, clothing, food and hygiene products) are being received for affected families.
