Flamengo striker Bruno Henrique shows arguments about innocence

Accused of involvement in suspected card manipulation during the match between Flamengo and Santos, held in 2023, player Bruno Henrique completed a year under investigation. This Tuesday (5), authorities once again carried out a new operation against the attacker, reinforcing the continuity of investigations into the case.

Evidence about innocence

The main fact presented to prove his innocence was the delay in receiving all the cards during the match, the first card received by Bruno Henrique was for a foul, with Flamengo losing 2-1 to Santos, the attacker went to complain about the card received and ended up cursing the referee, being automatically sent off.

After several defense attempts to prove the player's innocence, the STJD closed the case against him. One year after this decision, this Tuesday (5), Bruno Henrique was once again the target of an operation conducted by the Federal Police in Rio de Janeiro, which reopened the investigation with searches and seizures. In today's action, the agents only took the attacker's cell phone.

In addition to the attacker, family members are also being investigated due to betting: the player's brother, Wander Nunes Pinto Junior; his sister-in-law, Ludymilla Araujo Lima; and his cousin, Poliana Ester Nunes Cardoso, the amounts bet were very high, the minimum was R$1500.00 to profit R$3050.00.

Operation and investigation

The accusations against Bruno Henrique began with complaints from the bookmakers themselves, including Betano, which proved that 98% of bets focused on him. The strategies and yields of these bets used to be high, with over 90% of bets being player-centric across multiple houses.

The recent operation didn't just target the player's home; It also included Flamengo's CT, Ninho do Urubu. During the operation, Bruno Henrique was located at his residence, where agents seized his cell phone.

The previous filing of the case, based on defense arguments, generated penalties for Flamengo, CBF, Public Ministry and Federal Police due to the lack of completion of the process, resulting in legal notices. Even with the resumption of the investigation, Bruno Henrique remains available for Flamengo's next game against Cruzeiro.
