Flamengo will decide on Tuesday whether to hire a replacement for Pedro

Clube de Regatas Flamengo has been facing a dilemma in recent days, since striker Pedro suffered a serious injury to his left knee while playing for the Brazilian national team. The discussion among the club's directors is whether or not the club should look for a replacement for the number 9.

What is being discussed

The main points of the issue deal with the few alternatives on the market, the actual time of the athlete's inactivity and what weighs most: the high cost of a similar athlete, if there is one available, of course. Depending on the current outlook, the free center forwards awaiting offers have recovered from recent injuries or have been out of contract for more than 60 days, which in both cases would require long periods of readaptation.

Even if the club is interested in one of these players, for example for the Copa do Brasil, it will have to rush to register them by Tuesday, the deadline for regularizing athletes for the knockout stages of the national tournament. CRF still competes in the Brasileirão and Libertadores.

Decision must be studied

Football manager Marcos Braz stated that Flamengo will have decided whether or not to sign a new center forward by the 9th. “The window is practically over, and there are huge restrictions on making a signing today. After the window closes, you can only sign players who are already out of contract. It is our obligation to talk to the coach and the committee to see if a replacement is really necessary,” he added this Saturday (7).

He mentioned that the squad has capable athletes, such as Gabriel Barbosa, Bruno Henrique and Carlinhos and will calmly see what will be best for Flamengo, as it is necessary to seriously study the costs and conditions, factors that may prevent a new signing by the club.
