Fluminense, in Rio and Corinthians in Sao Paulo

The communicator has always been connected to football in some way. The truth is that few people know that, in his adolescence, Silvio supported Fluminense. This revelation, from time to time, appeared on his television programs, being said for the last time in 2019, when the player Neymar was on the Silvio Santos Program: “You didn’t play with Tim and Hércules, did you? They played for Fluminense, who I supported when I watched football.”he highlighted at the time.

There was another important moment in the businessman's connection with sports. It was when, in the final of the João Havelange Cup, Vasco entered the field with the SBT logo on the back of their uniform, against São Caetano, in 2000. The same shirt that Romário wore during the match was later given as a gift to Sílvio Santos.

However, it was in São Paulo, where he spent most of his career as a TV presenter, that entertainer Silvio Santos began to like Corinthians. In 1968, he even recorded the marchinha “Coração Corintiano”, which became quite popular and won the following year’s carnival. Silvio Santos’ version is always broadcast by his station during Carnival. His verses highlight the chorus: “Doctor, I’m not mistaken, my heart is Corinthian.”

Another situation that linked Silvio Santos to football is having as one of his sons-in-law Alexandre Pato, former player for São Paulo and the Brazilian national team, married to Rebeca Abravanel.

Silvio has worn the Orlando City shirt a few times and, in 2022, was photographed watching the game in Florida (USA).
