Fluminense is in advanced negotiations to hire striker Clayson, former Corinthians player
Fluminense negotiates with experienced striker Clayson, former Corinthians and Bahia, aiming to reinforce the offensive sector. The 28-year-old player, who is in the final stages of his contract with V-Varen Nagasaki, a Japanese Second Division team, can arrive at Laranjeiras free of charge.
The information was disclosed by the “NetFlu” website and confirmed by the GE, which verified the mutual interest between Clayson and the return to Brazilian football. However, Fluminense faces competition from the Japanese club itself, which offered a renewal proposal, in addition to the interest of other teams in the market.
Clayson, known for his ability as a wing forward, could be an option for the left wing, disputing a position with Keno, the only player in the position in the current squad. For this reason, the tricolor board has prioritized the sector in this transfer window, which will open on July 3. In addition, the club has already signed Diogo Barbosa, Grêmio’s left-back.

Born in Botucatu, in the interior of São Paulo, Clayson began his career at União São João, also from São Paulo. He passed through Ituano and Ponte Preta before arriving at Corinthians. It was at Timão that he lived his best season in 2019, with seven goals and ten assists in 62 games. Later, he played for Bahia, Cuiabá and Al Faisaly, in Saudi Arabia, before moving to V-Varen Nagasaki, in Japan.
The player has been involved in an off-field controversy in recent years. In December 2021, he was accused by Danielle Sarti, a 22-year-old, of assaulting her at a motel in Cuiabá, where they were in the company of two other men and two women. Due to this accusation, Cuiabá terminated Clayson’s loan contract, which belonged to Bahia at the time. Bahia also dismissed the player in January 2022, despite having a contract valid for another season.
Although he pursued his career outside the country, the investigation into the case continued in court. In September of last year, Clayson and the other two men were acquitted for lack of evidence, ending the court case.
