Visual and Audio: Welcome to Cinematic Ice

If there is something that Frostpunk 2 is good to immerse yourself in the ice. The view is simply breathtaking – almost literally, because you will spend the whole time thinking about how to keep your population alive in the middle of the frozen hell. It's like Blade Runner had been filmed at the North Pole. The details are impressive: the frozen cities, the giant machines, and the snow that never stops falling.

The graphs of Frostpunk 2 are simply breathtaking – literally, because the cold emanating from the screen looks real. And speaking of realism, the cherry on the cake is the volumetric smoke. The dense clouds of steam coming out of the machines and the imposing generator in the city center are so well done that you can almost feel the ice burning your face. The attention to detail is absurd, and the volumetric smoke heightens the immersion, creating an oppressive and suffocating atmosphere, which perfectly matches the apocalyptic scenario. It's the kind of graphic care that makes you stop the game just to admire the visual work, before remembering that your city is about to collapse due to lack of coal!

The audio is also a masterclass in ambiance. From the sound of the wind to the sound effects of the buildings, everything contributes to making you feel like you are truly on the brink of extinction. The soundtrack is subtle but striking and never out of place, which is a great merit considering the game is basically a simulation of despair.
