Gabigol responds to fans after controversy with Palmeiras shirt

Player Gabriel Barbosa has been involved in a new controversy with Flamengo fans. Since the end of 2022, he has been facing friction with fans and the press, and has not been able to show his best football. Gabigol collects controversies

This was not the first episode involving the striker. In 2024, he was suspended by FIFA for refusing to provide material for a doping test. In 2023, he received a 6-month suspension, but was granted a suspension and returned to the field. Another incident that displeased the fans was him being photographed wearing a Corinthians jersey at a barbecue. The athlete explained himself publicly at the time, but did not convince, and his actions have been causing wear and tear among the fans, considering that he is an idol in Flamengo's recent history.

This will be Gabriel's last year at Flamengo

The center forward is unlikely to remain at Flamengo in 2025 due to his poor performance over the past two years. The board even tried to renew his contract for another year with a 50% increase, but the proposal did not please the player and his team. Several clubs such as Corinthians, Palmeiras and Cruzeiro were considered, but despite the approaches, the athlete's future is still uncertain.
