Giampiero Boniperti is dead, Juventus are mourning honorary chairman and club icon Giampiero Boniperti, who died on Friday at the age of 92. Boniperti played his entire career for the ‘Old Lady’ and was chairman of the turin club for quite some time afterwards.

“An immense legend,” is how Juventus describe Boniperti on his site. “Everyone knows their resume in football, even children.”

As an easy-scoring winger, Boniperti won five league titles and two national cups with Juventus between 1946 and 1961.

The 38-time Italian international (eight goals) became Serie A’s top scorer in the 1947/48 season with 27 goals. He was the 36-time champion’s all-time top scorer for quite some time, but lost that record to Alessandro Del Piero.
