Rede Globo, which used to show the Oscar ceremony every year, did not renew the image rights contract for this year's edition, so the awards ceremony will not be broadcast on the open channel or on its streaming platform, Globoplay . However, in the 2022 edition, the network chose to make the program available only on its digital platform. The information was confirmed on the Omelete portal by the broadcaster's advisors and the reasons behind this decision are still unknown.

Globo is known for holding the image rights to the Oscars since the 1970s, where there were only short periods in which the awards were not shown, and became known for being the main channel to show one of the most anticipated moments in cinema around. of the world.
