HBO defends Euphoria after assault allegations

HBO, the network behind the most successful series among teenagers, Euphoria, says it followed all guidelines of the actors' union in Hollywood, SAG-AFTRA. The statement came after the publication of the complaint of mistreatment of extras and other cast members, sent by The Daily Beast.

In response to the accusations, the broadcaster made a statement through Variety magazine: “The well-being of our cast and crew is always a top priority for our productions. Euphoria followed all union safety guidelines. It is not uncommon for drama series to have complex shoots, and COVID-19 protocols have added an additional layer to that. We always maintain open lines of communication with unions, including SAG-AFTRA. There have been no formal complaints filed against this specific production.”

The original article, published in The Daily Beast, featured testimonies from extras on the show who complained about not receiving their meals at the agreed-upon time, in addition to being prohibited from using the bathroom whenever they wanted. The article, published in The Daily Beast, directly contradicts HBO's statement, saying that several formal complaints against the producers of Euphoria were filed with the actors' union, SAG-AFTRA.
