“How time flies”

This Wednesday (29), Palmirinha Onofre turned 91 years old and made a post on her Instagram profile celebrating the date. Known for her uniquely presented recipes, the cook posted smiling photos and was congratulated by her fans. “Wow, how time flies. So many things have happened in my life, so many achievements and accomplishments…” started the most beloved grandmother in Brazil.

The TV presenter thanked her followers for all the loving messages she has received over the years. “I can only thank you for the love, affection and trust in my work that I have received from you for all these years. Thank you very much for everything and for the beautiful messages! I love you!” finished.

Despite her cheerful demeanor, Palmirinha did not have an easy life. Due to the mistreatment inflicted by her mother, who envied her out of jealousy for the attention she received from her father, she was given up for adoption at the age of 6 and went to live with a French woman. At the age of 14, after the death of her father, the cook returned to live with her mother to take care of her siblings.

According to what the presenter revealed to 'Portal VIX', the matriarch's rudeness did not stop, not even while she worked day and night to support her siblings, her mother respected her. The situation reached the extreme that her mother sold her to a farmer from Bauru, in the interior of São Paulo. And when Palmirinha came across the man lying in her bed, she screamed desperately and was saved by her aunt.

To free herself from all the suffering and be able to leave home, the chef agreed to marry her boyfriend at the age of 19. The marriage produced three daughters and lasted 20 years. However, Palmirinha only exchanged one ordeal for another: “He was a bad husband, he was very aggressive, violent”she commented. She said she had endured the marriage because of her daughters: “Back then, anyone who separated from their husband was no good, and I was afraid that it would affect my daughters’ marriage, so I put up with it.”.

Palmirinha made her TV debut in 1997, at the age of 66. After separating from her husband, she made savory and sweet snacks to sell and support her family. The cook was invited to participate in Sílvia Poppovic's program, which had as its theme: 'I raised my children alone'. This episode caught the attention of other television programs and since then, the presenter has not stopped and has earned a permanent place on Brazilian TV.
