What is the definition of CEP and how it is structured

THE CEP (Postal Address Code) is a numerical code used to identify addresses throughout the national territory, facilitating the sorting, routing and distribution of correspondence.

The CEP follows a logical structure composed of eight digits in the format “00000-000”. The first five digits identify large regions and locations, while the last three specify smaller areas, such as streets, condominiums or establishments with a large volume of mail.

CEP composition:

• X0000-000: Region
• 0X000-000: Subregion
• 00X00-000: Sector
• 000X0-000: Subsector
• 0000X-000: Subsector divider
• 00000-XXX: Distribution suffix
