Google currently provides five ways to protect your account within this “2-Step Verification” tab. The first is to create and register a security key for emergency access, then comes the registration of a cell phone to authorize remote login, the enabling of an authenticator app, the registration of a cell phone number to receive codes via SMS and the provision of random codes.

Ideally, you should activate each of these methods, but if you don't want to, we recommend enabling an authentication app (such as Authy), and registering a cell phone and telephone number to allow remote login access and receive codes via text message.

There are two other ways: going back to the “Security” tab, you can still add recovery methods, such as a cell phone number and an email. It is important that these contact methods are yours and not third parties, that you have quick access to each one and that they are not the same as other data registered previously.
