Hungary vs France European championships – Hungary pulled off a stunt at the European Championships on Saturday. Coach Marco Rossi’s team held world champion France to a 1-1 draw in a packed Puskás Aréna in Budapest.

France had the best chances in the first half, but just before half-time Hungary took the lead through Attila Fiola. In the second half, the French went full on the hunt for the equaliser and it was also made by Antoine Griezmann, but otherwise the team of national coach Didier Deschamps did not come.

The draw takes France into group F with four points from two games. Hungary is now on one point. Portugal and Germany will play each other in Munich in the same pool at 6 p.m.

For France, the European Championship continues on Wednesday with the final group game against reigning European champion Portugal (kick-off at 9pm in Budapest). Hungary will play Germany in Munich at the same time.

The Dutch national team will keep an eye on the denouement in Pool F with an oblique eye. The formation of national coach Frank de Boer is linked in the round of 16 with the number three of Group D, E or F.
