“I will occupy the place I want”

Cleo Pires, 39, talked about the book she recently released in partnership with writer Tatiana Maciel in an interview with the magazine 'Quem'. The work is called 'Everyone I Loved Has Already Made Me Cry', and it talks about abusive relationships. The actress explained how the idea for the manuscript came about, but said she was unable to put her thoughts on paper and that's where the partnership came from. She explained that she decided to bring the book to life after venting on her social media and receiving an alarming amount of reports about people who have lived or are still living in toxic relationships.

The singer commented that there is still a great fear in talking about toxic relationships due to the prejudice surrounding issues related to mental health.. “Because talking about this subject is also talking about mental health. People who find themselves in toxic relationships are people who are fragile in some way, vulnerable,” completed.

The composer assured that she was not afraid of having the family stories attributed to her mother, Glória Pires, and stated that it was not an autobiographical story. She also revealed that she was already used to it, as mother and daughter have always been the target of incessant comparisons, but that throughout her career on television, she managed to make some people understand that the two are individuals with different goals.

In one of her stories, a character posts about her traumas on the internet, but feels guilty for “tarnishing” the reputation of her abusive ex-boyfriend. “Rosa (the character in the story) posted about herself, what she was feeling at that moment, without naming names and still worried about what her ex and his family would think about all that exposure. But, in fact, the only person exposed was herself and Rosa couldn't see that.”explained the actress.

Cleo ended the interview by talking about how women are diminished and that the artistic world is no different in this regard. She stated that the cycle is difficult to break, but that she will never go back to the box they put her in. Cleo states that all the obstacles she has faced in her life have encouraged her to show that she can, can and will occupy the place she wants, whether as an actress, singer, producer or whatever she wants to do. The producer characterized the book as being a work of acceptance and reflection, which ended up becoming a kind of cure for her own traumas.
