In an interview, Juliana Paes reveals that she is not vain about her characters

In a recent interview with the Sala de Espera podcast, actress Juliana Paes gave details about her self-esteem and how she sees herself in front of the screen. In the interview, Juliana stated that it is difficult to grow old in front of the public. At 43 years of age, the actress made her television debut in 2000 in the soap opera Laços de Família, when she was only 21 years old. She stated that when she saw scenes from the soap opera “Caminho das Índias”, she was surprised and joked saying: “my collagen, my God” making the interviewers laugh.

During the interview, the actress also spoke about her relationship with the vanity of her characters, after appearing without makeup in Pantanal when she played Maria Marruá, she declared that she has no problem showing hair, spots or white hair and said “I think vanity has to be off set, off the recording environment and off your character”.

In March of this year, Juliana Paes announced that she no longer has a fixed contract with Globo. The actress currently works at the channel through per-job contracts. In the interview, she stated that she ended her fixed contract with Vênus Platinada to have more time with her children and herself, and that she is currently undergoing therapy.

During the interview, the actress also highlighted the importance of spirituality in her life. Coming from a family with great religious diversity, with a Catholic mother and spiritualist and Umbanda grandparents, she said she was raised among masses and drums. Still on the subject of spirituality and religion, the actress announced the premiere of her new film “Predestinado”, the film tells the story of Zé Arigó. Zé was a medium from Minas Gerais who, through the spirit of Dr. Fritz, a German doctor who died during World War II, performed surgical operations on people. The film premieres this Thursday (1). Danton Melo plays the protagonist, while Juliana Paes is Arlete, Arigó's wife.
