In an interview, Selena Gomez says she is 100% happy for her new album

Selena Gomez, in an interview with Vogue Mexico, announced material from the new album, saying she had not written any sad songs for this new phase of her life.

In a short time, Selena Gomez went through struggles with lupus, the discovery of bipolar disorder, a very exposed personal life and a kidney transplant. However, if this shook her in the past, today, it seems that the artist is overcoming all of this and turning things around.

“A big part of healing is helping others. I believe in it”she said during the interview with Vogue Mexico.

When talking about the album, Selena says that its main theme is “Freedom”. When asked “of what?”she replies, without hesitation: “because of the ties I had when I was 20 years old.”

Selena had a long hiatus between albums, but with a reason why it took her so long to make new music. “I didn't have anything to write about because I'm so used to writing sad songs for girls. And I love a song like that, but I wasn't going through something that was destroying me.”to top it off, he said that “I want to try to find ways to make good pop music, with a message that actually means something.”

Selena highlighted one new song in particular that talks about self-knowledge, about how good it is to enter a new space like this, about knowing yourself. In terms of genre, she refers to this album as a “true pop record”that will make you want to dance. And for those who liked “Good For You”, it also promised an R&B moment.

When asked what it felt like to capture this moment, Selena said it was a lot of fun, that “It’s different to go into the studio and say ‘let’s party’.” Selena remembers the experience of recording “Lose You To Love Me”, remembering that it took her 45 minutes to an hour to write it, but her emotions were so raw that she had to leave the studio. Although she now refers to that moment as a therapeutic recording, today she says she's in a new place.

“When people hear (the new album), whether they like it or not, I hope they say 'that sounds really happy'”was what Selena finished by saying, showing the expectations she has for this album and the changes it will bring to her career.
