Internacional and Flamengo draw in a decisive game at Beira-Rio

On Wednesday night (30), Internacional hosted Flamengo at the Beira-Rio Stadium to play the delayed match of the first round of the Brazilian Championship, a match valid for the 17th round. The teams faced each other in a complicated dispute, competing for a place in the G4 – Flamengo, to remain. Inter, to enter – from the table. The result was a draw in Porto Alegre, with goals from Carlos Alcaraz and Enner Valencia.

The match was delayed and had to be played on the return leg due to the rains in Rio Grande do Sul, which caused the partial destruction of the stadium, making it impossible for the Internacional team to receive visitors at their home.

Flamengo's first half

The match started in such a way that Flamengo dominated the field, with Uruguayan Varela saving the team in the first minute, after clearing a ball from over the line. The minutes continued with the visiting team dominating the ball, with shots from the club's players. Even in the 25 minutes of the match, players like Bruno Henrique and Gerson had already attempted submissions, which did not result in goals.

Although committed in attack, the Rio team played very aggressively, committing some fouls on Internacional players, generating yellow cards for players like Varela and Erick Pulgar.

The first goal came in stoppage time, when, in the 45th minute, with two minutes added to the first half of the match, a penalty was awarded to the players coached by Filipe Luís after Thiago Maia, from Internacional, got in the way of controlling the ball, letting her hit his arm. As a result, Alcaraz was called by the team captain, Gerson, to take the charge. Result: goal scored for Mais Querido. With the result of 1×0, the first stage ended in Beira-Rio.

Second half of Internacional

The following minutes started in a similar way, with shots for Flamengo made by Bruno Henrique, in the same way as in the first half. Even with the brilliant performance of striker Rubro-Negro, Internacional positioned themselves better in the second half, making more shots towards the goal.

Another great highlight of the second stage was Flamengo's goalkeeper, Rossi, who made many difficult saves throughout the minutes, preventing the home team from equalizing on the scoreboard. One of his performances was his exit in the 42nd minute, when he avoided Enner Valencia's goal. However, the defense was not enough, as, a minute after the play, Valencia equalized for Internacional, leaving the match at 1-1.

Position in the table and upcoming matches

With the draw, Flamengo remains within the G4, with a total of 55 points. Their opponent, Internacional, is positioned right behind, in fifth place, with 53 points.

Flamengo takes the field again next Sunday (03), facing Atlético Mineiro in the first game of the Copa do Brasil final, at Maracanã. Meanwhile, Internacional, still in the Brazilian Championship, will also host Criciúma in Beira-Rio, next Tuesday (05).
