This Tuesday (26), the Israeli Security Council will hold a meeting to define a ceasefire agreement with the Lebanese extremist group Hezbollah, which includes the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the southern border of Lebanon and a truce in attacks by two months.

Ceasefire proposal

Michael Herzog, the Israeli ambassador to the United States, said that, although there are still pending points, the agreement could be concluded in the next few days. The UN has been pushing for both parties to accept the ceasefire. The head of the extremist group Hezbollah, Naim Qassen, stated that he has already reviewed the ceasefire proposal and is now awaiting Israel's decision.

Consequences of the conflict and regional tensions

In Lebanon, more than 3,500 deaths have already resulted in Israel there were more than 70, including soldiers and civilians. With this ceasefire proposal, Israeli forces will be withdrawn, there will be a pause in the war and the end of Hezbollah's operations.

Even with the tensions, a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah will help reduce regional conflicts, especially related to Iran. The ONO highlighted the importance of the truce, so as not to have an expansion of conflict to Syria and Iraq.

Future challenges

Members of the Israeli government, including Itamar Ben-Gvir, who is the Minister of National Security, defend the continuation of the war until they achieve absolute victory.

Negotiations continue, diplomats say that the ceasefire will depend on the willingness of both sides. The absence of this quick agreement causes concern, as the outcome of the conflict is still uncertain. Many believe that this agreement will only come about after Donald Trump takes office.
