James Gunn and Zack Snyder: The Future of the DCU

DC Studios President James Gunn reshaped the universe of Snyderverse based on the publisher's characters, after some fans supported continuity. To avoid conflicts with sniper fans, James stated that the filmmaker is supporting the list of films and series that he and Peter Safran plan for the future.

In some posts on Twitter, James received some questions about his interest in Zack Snyder to work on future DC adaptations, com I'm responding to a fan “Zack hasn't expressed any interest and seems to be quite happy doing what he's doing“, referring to “Rebel Moon“, a franchise that Snyder is working on with Netflix.

Gunn continued the comments saying “He contacted me to express his support for my choices. He's an incredible guy. Once again, he is very happy with the huge franchise he is building now.”

James and Peter announced ten confirmed projects for DC, the work will be divided into film and TV. Titled 'Gods and Monsters' (Gods and Monsters), the schedule includes five films that are Superman – The Legacy, The Authority, The Brave and The Bold, Supergirl – The Woman of Tomorrow and Swamp Thing and five series in partnership with HBO Max that are Creature Commandos, Waller, Booster Gold, Lanterns and Paradise Lost.

With the release of series and films, fans became increasingly excited about DC's new era, which swirled Twitter with hopeful reactions to DC's new 10-year plan, many believe that the new era can be leveraged like Marvel Studios stood out with its renovations.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Gun and Safran talk about the new launch strategies for new DC projects, commenting that they intend to launch at least four titles per year. DC Studios plans to release “probably two movies and probably two HBO Max series a year“, explains Safran. For now the first feature film will be Superman Legacy which is scheduled to premiere on July 11, 2025and then we will have the release of 'Waller' (spin-off of 'Peacemaker') and 'Creature Commandos'.

When asked whether future years' strategy will continue with current strategies, James said it is probably “something like this.” Further details were not revealed.
