Japanese Film Plagiarism Success Denied. Second Season Under Debate?

The South Korean series of the moment, which captures your attention, tests your empathy and surprises from beginning to end, is in first place in the Netflix rankings. In addition to being accused of plagiarism, several other questions were raised. Some of the information that appeared in scenes from the series was real, such as a bank account number and even the cell phone number that appears in one scene. It belonged to a Korean woman who has been using it for over 10 years and has faced problems due to receiving repeated calls and messages. According to the Koreaboo portal, Netflix contacted the owner of the number and offered compensation and suggested that she change her number.

Director Hwang Dong-Hyuk talks about the possibility of a second season on Netflix, but that it will be a future plan as he is currently focusing more on film production.

In an interview with Variety, the director comments: “Writing Squid Game was harder than usual for me, since it was a series and not a movie. It took me six months to write and rewrite the first two episodes… I have no plans for a sequel. It’s exhausting just thinking about it. But if I were to do it, I certainly wouldn’t do it alone. I would consider using a writers’ room and I would want several experienced directors.”
