Jean David is presented by Vasco and can reinforce the team in the Copa do Brasil

Vasco presented Chilean striker Jean David this Wednesday (27), at São Januário. The Chilean is the fifth reinforcement for the Vasco team in this second transfer window of 2024

Jean could debut with Vasco on Thursday

The striker has already been registered with Vasco in the BID (Daily Information Bulletin), and can play for the team against Athletico, in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Copa do Brasil, at Vasco's home ground. He says he feels very good and is ready to fight for titles and even for his starting spot in Rafael Paiva's team, in which he will have competition from David, Erick Marcus and Emerson Rodríguez, since he is a player who plays on both wings, but prefers to play on the left.

“I'm a player who can play on the right or left, but I prefer to play on the left to perform better. I'm more comfortable there, I always go inside and finish or assist a teammate” Says Jean in an interview.

From Jean Meneses to Jean David

The Chilean striker asked to be called Jean David during his time at Vasco, and the team did so. At other clubs he was known as Jean Meneses. The player explains the change, stating that he wanted to use a more neutral name because before he only used his father's surname, and for his mother's recognition he wanted this neutrality.

“Because for a long time I used my father's surname and I felt ugly because I wanted my mother's name too. So for neutrality I chose David, because most of my friends call me that. So I decided to change, I want to give recognition to my mother too.” Says player in interview.

Discovered by San Luis, Chile, Jean David played for Universidad Concepción and León-MEX before arriving at Toluca. For the Chilean national team, the player has 23 games and scored 3 goals, and participated in the 2021 Copa América, held in Brazil. Jean David signed a contract with Vasco in June 2026.
