Jennifer Garner Celebrates Her 50th Birthday With a “Wedding for Herself”

Jennifer Garner celebrated her 50th birthday with a huge party and turned the occasion into a kind of “wedding” for herself. The actress's birthday was on April 17 and since then she has been organizing the party to celebrate with friends and family.

In an interview for the magazine Town & Countryas reported on the website Hola! the '13 Going on 30' star gave details of this event. “A wedding for myself”, said the actress. “I basically had a wedding for myself. I was so shocked that I did it.”

At the party, the actress took the opportunity to ask guests to help fill 5,000 backpacks with food to feed a family of four for a few days. The donation was given to Blessings in a Backpack, a non-profit organization in the United States whose mission is to combat hunger.

The American spoke about public perception, and shared that she is in fact “nice” all the time.I have no reason not to be nice. My life is lovely“, she said.

The actress added: “I’m not always just nice. I can also be catty, and I can be brooding, or I can be really serious about what I want to get done. It’s not that I feel undervalued in that way — I’m not afraid to stand up for myself and say, ‘Just so you know, this isn’t going to work for me.’ When that happens, I don’t want you to be shocked that I’m a real person.”.

Garner's “self-wedding” took place four months before her ex-husband, actor Ben Affleck, exchanged rings with singer and actress Jennifer Lopez in Georgia, United States. Jennifer and Ben dated in the early 2000s and reconnected in April 2021. Garner was invited to Affleck and Lopez's wedding but was unable to attend due to her work schedule.

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck were married between 2005 and 2018, and have three children: Violet, 16; Seraphina, 13; and Sam, 11.
