The Paris administrative court rendered the Bordeaux striker’s contract “null and void” last Wednesday

Jimmy Briand Update

Even if he no longer smells of sanctity at the Girondins de Bordeaux since the arrival of Jean-Louis Gasset, it was the first time this season that Jimmy Briand did not appear on the scoresheet this Sunday against Strasbourg (2-3). An absence that inevitably questioned. But an absence quickly justified by Jean-Louis Gasset at a press conference:

“It’s a contract problem because Guingamp [his former club] had brought the case before a committee which delivered its verdict on Wednesday and we should not take the risk of putting it on the scoresheet. “

To be more precise, the administrative court of Paris has indeed rendered the contract of the Bordeaux striker “null and void” and condemned the LFP (Professional Football League) to pay a fine of 2,000 euros to Guingamp, specifies Sud Ouest.

Upcoming negotiations to resolve the problem?

 Jimmy Briand

The facts date back to the summer of 2018. At the time, the En Avant agreed to terminate his attacker’s contract and release him so that he could join the Impact Montreal. An amendment is even signed. Problem, Jimmy Briand does an about-face and finally decides to take the direction of Bordeaux. Guingamp then seized the legal commission of the LFP then its appeal commission but each time the appeals were rejected. It is for this reason that the Breton club ended up seizing the administrative court of Paris which ruled in favor in recent days.

This Sunday, the Girondins who are not in question since the contract was approved by the LFP therefore preferred not to take any risk by removing the player from the group. Negotiations could take place in the coming days to try to find a solution. As a reminder, Jimmy Briand is under contract with the Navy and White until June 2022.
