Joe Biden speaks for the first time after withdrawing from the US election race

On Wednesday (24), the President of the United States, Joe Biden, gave an official speech for the first time since withdrawing from the American electoral race. The speech took place in the Oval Office of the White House. According to him, nothing can prevent the salvation of the country's democracy. This includes personal ambitions.

In his speech, Biden emphasized his decision to withdraw from running for a second term as president. For him, it was a choice between moving forward and moving backward, between hope and hatred.

“I revere this office. But I love my country more. It has been the honor of my life to serve as your president. But in defense of democracy, which is at stake—and is more important than any title. I draw strength and joy from working for the American people.”, Biden said.

Biden praises Kamala Harris in speech

Joe Biden highlighted the competence of the vice president and possible presidential candidate for the Democratic Party, Kamala Harris. In his speech in the Oval Office, on Wednesday (24), he emphasized: “Harris is experienced, resilient and capable”. He also pointed out that it is up to the American people to choose the new direction of the country in the coming months.

President's withdrawal from re-election

Last Sunday (21), Joe Biden announced, through social media, his withdrawal from the 2024 American electoral race. In another post, the president, who is the first to give up re-election in the United States, declared his support for Vice President Kamala Harris. He also emphasized that choosing Harris as his vice president in 2020 was the best decision to have been made, as he believes in her potential to lead the country on a path of even greater international prominence.
