Johnny Depp and Amber Heard back in court,
Johnny Depp has lost an earlier lawsuit over statements by his ex-wife Amber Heard, but now he hopes to be right. The actor demands 50 million dollars (46 million euros) from his ex, who accuses him in a column in The Washington Post of having used violence during their relationship.
The trial in the United States starts this Monday, will last six weeks and is expected to be filled with intense details about the relationship. Depp and Heard married in February 2015.
A year and a half later, Heard applied for a restraining order. While the U.K. lawsuit was actually about a rectification and damages from The Sun – which Depp demanded because the newspaper had called him a womanizer – it ended in court to an accumulation of details that both parties probably would have preferred not to disclose. For example, the case revealed that the actor had lost a fingertip during an argument during an argument, that feces had been found in bed and that a mirror had been smeared with a message written in blood. Depp accused his ex-wife of using violence, she accused him of the same.
During the treatment of the case, it was regularly about the drug use of the actor: Depp would regularly take a combination of cocaine, hashish and alcohol and therefore become unconscious. The actor has not denied the use of the means.
In court in 2020, it became clear that marriage was not always good in other areas as well. For example, Depp accused his ex-wife of having had various affairs during their marriage.
The names James Franco and Elon Musk were mentioned several times.

The lawsuit in the United States is of a slightly different nature, but will resemble the one against The Sun. The biggest difference: Depp is suing his ex-wife and not The Washington Post, in which she made her claims.
The lawsuit was already filed in 2019 and it concerns about 46 million euros. Heard has asked several times if the case could be dropped and in turn has also sued her ex-husband.
The jury will be chosen on Monday and it is the intention that the lawyers of the former couple will take the floor from Tuesday. Unlike the one in the United Kingdom, the entire trial can be followed live: cameras are allowed to be there this time.
Not only Heard and Depp will tell their story, but also Elon Musk and James Franco. The two men are willing to cooperate and have already agreed to make a statement. Court documents state that they will attend hearings digitally.
