Joost Luiten returns to the golf

Golfer Joost Luiten is making his comeback on the European Tour after an absence of more than three weeks. The 35-year-old Bleiswijker, who was struggling with intestinal complaints, will participate in the Made in Himmerland tournament in Denmark from Thursday.

“I expect to be able to play pain-free and freely and you never know what will be possible,” said Luiten in the run-up to the tournament.

Luiten returned urgently to the Netherlands from Tenerife at the beginning of May due to severe stomach pain. He had just played a tournament there. A Spanish doctor wanted to operate on him immediately there, but Luiten opted for a second diagnosis in his own country. Surgery was not necessary.

“My body has started to solve the intestinal complaints itself, as the doctors in the Netherlands had indicated. I still feel some stiffness now and then, it sometimes pulls a little in my left lower abdomen, but the doctors assure me that it is nothing to discuss I haven’t had any complications and the chance that they will still occur is very small. So luckily I can play again this week.”

Luiten plans to go full throttle again. “Next week I will play the Porsche European Open in Germany and I think I will also play the Scandinavian Mixed in Sweden after that. After that, I will basically play no tournament for two weeks and then three big ones in a row: Irish Open, Scottish Open and the British Open. for which I qualified before. Great tournaments to look forward to, but now only this week in Denmark. “
