Journalist admits mistake for not including Vini Jr. on the “Bola d'Or” list

France Football released this Saturday (9), more details regarding the 2024 Ballon d'Or award, in which Rodri, Manchester City's midfielder, beat Brazilian Vinicius Junior, and took home the award. However, the defeat of the Real Madrid striker has caused something to talk about in the football world, the French magazine revealed that three journalists did not choose Vinicius in the list of the best in the world, including Juha Kanervado, from Finland, who spoke out saying which was a “technical error” not having chosen the merengue star and confirmed that he will resign from the jury for the next edition of the competition.

About voting

Rodri was the most voted by journalists and emerged victorious after accumulating 1,170 points and taking first place, while Vini came in second with 1,129 points. In other words, a small difference of just 41 points between the two gave the victory to the Spanish player.

The 68th edition of the Ballon D'or, counted on the votes of 99 journalists from different countries on the planet, surprisingly, in addition to Kanevardo, three did not include Vini in the list of the best in the world, even with the successful season of the young Galactico, is the case of journalist Bruno Porzio, from El Salvador, and Sheefeni Nikodemus, from Namibia.

Brazil at the Ballon D'Or

Vinicius Junior could have been the fifth Brazilian to win the award in history, in total, four players from the country won the Ballon d'Or, they are: Ronaldo ''phenomenon'' (1997 and 2002), Rivaldo (1999), Ronaldinho Gaúcho (2002) and the last, Kaká (2007). In recent times, Neymar was the closest to the title, finishing third in 2015 and 2017.
