Journalist responds to criticism of Real Madrid president for not voting for Vini Jr

Speaking to Cadena SER, Sheefeni Nicodemus, a journalist from Namibia, responded to the insults thrown at him by the current president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, this Monday (25), by not voting for Vinicius Júnior for Best Player at the Ballon d'Or event. .

How the issue started

During the Ballon D'or event, or Golden Ball in translation, much was said about the almost certain victory of Vinícius Júnior, a Real Madrid player, in the Best Player of the Year category. After all, in addition to having one of the best seasons of his career, there were not, in question, so many other fierce competitors with the same, according to speculations by experts in this field.

However, that was not the case. In addition to the player not winning the award, with Rodri receiving the award, the Real Madrid team did not attend the event, not even their coach who won the title of Best Coach. Generating many questions, several journalists declared why they did not name Vinicius as the winner of the night.

However, even with those talking about their reasons, many internet users still did not believe in such reasons and accused those who made the awards of racism and prejudice against the African-American and Latino race, which generated comments from their own team.

Real Madrid's answers

This Sunday (24), Florentino Pérez criticized the voting system for the award, alleging disregard for the popular perception and perspective surrounding it: “Vinicius was the cry of the world fans. But also the majority of L'Equipe readers gave Vini Jr. as the winner with 41%… There are journalists that no one knows.”, declared the club president.

The comment generated extreme repercussion, which led the journalist representing Namibia, Sheefeni Nicodemus, to speak about the case the following day: “These are the words of someone frustrated. Mr Florentino Pérez feels that the people of my country and the other countries mentioned do not have a significant vote because we are inferior people”said the journalist.

The Namibian native chose Bellingham in first place on his list, followed by Rodri and Lamine Yamal in third place, leaving Vinícius Jr. out of his top 10 players.
