Justin Timberlake loses license after drunk driving accusation

Justin Timberlake had his driving license suspended in New York, United States, after being arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol. According to the Daily Mail newspaper, the singer, who is on tour in Europe, made a virtual appearance in court in the coastal village of Sag Harbor.

Singer appears at hearing via videoconference

This Friday (2), the singer appeared via video conference at the hearing in which he was prosecuted for driving drunk on June 18. During a video conference, the singer pleaded not guilty to the charge of drunk driving. The hearing is an attempt by Timberlake's attorney, Edward Burke Jr., to end the case last week, alleging errors in documents filed after the artist's arrest. The singer was allowed to make a virtual appearance at the start of his world tour in Europe.

The artist was stopped in Sag Harbor for a “stop” and “leave the road” sign while driving a 2025 BMW X7 on June 18.

Error in the singer's arrest documents

Timberlake's defense rejected the accusations, arguing that he was not drunk at the time and pointing out errors in the accusatory document signed by the police. The attorney maintained that the arresting officer was a part-time professional and not a supervisor, specifically the Sag Harbor Police sergeant, who was present at the time.

Judge accepts accusation against singer

Assistant District Attorney Ashley Cangro countered that argument, saying prosecutors filed a duly signed superseding indictment document on July 2. According to her, this document will correct the error made on the morning of the arrest. Instead, Cangro maintained that Timberlake should be resubmitted as soon as possible based on the amended document, which Judge Irace agreed, scheduling the hearing for August 2.
