Juventus will continue with clubless Chiellini for two years

Juventus will continue with Giorgio Chiellini. The club icon was without a club after his contract with the Italian record-holder expired on July 1, but the commitment was extended for two years on Monday.

The 36-year-old Chiellini has been with the ‘Old Lady’ since 2005, winning the Italian Cup eight times. So far he has played 535 games for the turin club. Only four players played more often at Juve.

Captain Chiellini had a big part in Italy’s first European title since 1968 last month. The 112-time Italian international was named the best defender of the tournament by UEFA. La Squadra Azzurra was too strong for England in the final at Wembley after penalties.

Chiellini has never won the Champions League with Juventus. Last season, the team of then coach Andrea Pirlo was eliminated by FC Porto in the round of 16. ‘Juve’ has set themselves the goal of the ‘Cup with the Big Ears’ since the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018.
