Kate Hudson reveals she took a year off from men

Kate Hudson revealed in an interview with the Call Her Daddy podcast that, about ten years ago, she took her therapist's advice and took a year-long break from romantic relationships. During the episode that aired last Wednesday (22), she talked about her love life and how important this process was in finding the right person.

“I took a whole year off. I couldn't flirt or anything like that. I was in my early thirties. I was in a place where I didn't want to keep repeating the same patterns.” said the actress.

The “Brides at War” actress shared that she struggled during the process because she didn't feel like herself without flirting, which made her uncomfortable in the first few months: “It wasn't fun. I couldn't flirt, I couldn't give men my number.”

She explained that she had an emotional discovery during this experience, something that would not have been possible if she had been distracted: “It allowed me to see things more clearly. Within six months, I didn't even care about my cell phone. If I went out with my friends, I didn't care about flirting.”

Breaking patterns

Kate explained how this time away from relationships, to free herself from negative patterns, was important for her current relationship with musician Danny Fujikawa: “I think if I hadn't done that, I would never have been with Danny. He's such a good man, and I'm not sure I was really attracted to good men.”

She highlighted the importance of the period she took for herself to be able to meet her current fiancé, with whom she has little Rani Rose, 5 years old. “He's such a lovely person and I don't think I would have ever allowed that if I hadn't spent those three years being so happy in my life on my own.”

The actress is also mother to Ryder Robinson, 20, from her previous marriage to Chris Robinson, and Bingham “Bing”, 12, with her ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy.
