This Friday (11) it was announced by Fendi that British designer Kim Jones will no longer be the brand's artistic director for women or couture. He wants to focus solely on Dior's men's line, where he is also creative director.

Career at Fendi

He started working with the brand in 2020, as artistic director and tried to maintain all the elegance of the brand, taking inspiration from the women who founded Fendi, being responsible for the haute couture and ready-to-wear part of the brand. The company announced that, in “due time” it will announce the new replacement.

Origin of the brand

In 1925, the couple Adele and Edoardo Fendi opened a leather goods boutique in Rome. In a short time the business grew and became a reference in haute couture. Some time later, the couple's daughters decided to take over and managed to expand the brand to an international level. In 1965, Karl Lagerfeld began his work as artistic director of the brand and remained until 2019, when he passed away. The director was very important for the brand, bringing a more sophisticated and lighter look, being responsible for creating the logo, the “double F”. After the 80s, the brand grew a lot and in 1997, Silvia Fendi created the famous Baguette bag, which is one of the brand's best-known pieces. This bag became fashionable among consumers after it was used by the character Carrie Bradshaw, played by actress Sarah Jessica Parker in the series “Sex and the City”. The inspiration for the bag's name came from the bread that the French carry under their arms in the morning and the idea was that the bag would be used in the same way by the public.

Exchange, exchange in the fashion industry

This year there were some changes in the fashion industry, such as Virginie Viad who no longer works at Chanel, Sarah Burton who joined Givenchy, David Koma who started working at Blumarine as Walter Chiapponi's replacement, among others.
