King Charles III speaks out for the first time after being diagnosed with cancer

This Saturday (10), King Charles III, 75 years old, went to the royal family's official social networks to comment on the cancer diagnosis received on 02/05. This was the monarch's first statement on the subject and he thanked the thousands of messages of strength and hope during this period of treatment. He highlighted that these gestures of support are essential to encourage him in this difficult time.

Although Buckingham Palace announced the cancer diagnosis, it did not specifically disclose the type of disease. The tumor was detected during treatment for an enlarged prostate last month.

Removal from royal duties

Since the diagnosis published on February 5, the British king has stepped away from his public duties and decided to exchange London for the royal country residence in Sandringham, where he will undergo treatment. The monarch said that the news of the diagnosis sparked debate and awareness in support of organizations that care for people with cancer and emotionally help their families.

King Charles was recently sworn in

Following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, which occurred on (09/08/22), King Charles was proclaimed as King of England. In one year, the majesty had to face the challenge of losing her mother, taking command of a country and now, she continues to fight cancer.

It is my most painful duty to announce to you the death of my beloved mother, the queen. I know how deeply you and the entire nation, and I think I can say the entire world, sympathize with me for the irreparable loss we have all suffered. I am deeply aware of this great heritage and of the duties and heavy responsibilities of sovereignty that have now passed to me. In assuming these responsibilities, I must strive to follow the inspiring example set for me in upholding constitutional government and seeking peace, harmony and prosperity for the people of these islands and for Commonwealth kingdoms and territories throughout the world.“, declared Charles III at the inauguration ceremony.
