Kourtney Kardashian sparks controversy with insensitive caption about Hawaii fires

Socialite Kourtney Kardashian has been enjoying her last moments with her current partner Travis Baker, before the couple's son is born. Therefore, Kourtney has been sharing images of her pregnancy with fans. However, in her last post on Instagram, last Thursday (10), the socialite made a caption that many found to be insensitive due to the fires that have been occurring in Hawaii over the last week.

The legend

The eldest Kardashian was heavily criticized by many and even called insensitive for sharing such a post. She posted a photo album on her Instagram with the description: “The ocean calms the fire in me”. This generated a huge response among the follower base.

A fan warned her about the comment: “Maybe it's not the best time to say the ocean calms the fire – when people in Hawaii were forced into the ocean because of a fire.”

However, many were offended by Kardashian's publication: “Except when you're forced to jump into the ocean because you and your car were engulfed in flames while trying to escape the fire that's burning your house. I know you're just a celebrity and you're not even going to respond to this, but my entire city burned to the ground, and it's like the people who have the ability to help are pretending not to know what's going on.”said an internet user who says she lives in one of the affected areas.

“Go to hell with this photo and caption. You know exactly what you're doing. Damn, I bet you're going to profit from this tragedy somehow. You always find a way. Unbelievable. What if it was YOUR family on Maui. Put yourself in other people's shoes besides yours. For the first time in your sad materialistic life.”said another, offending the businesswoman.

While some criticized it, others came to Kourtney's defense: “so what? People in Greece are also on fire and soon CA will have wind fires… so now people can enjoy the ocean because there are wild fires.”said a fan. “She was just trying to express how the Ocean makes her feel. It was an innocent thought. I'm more than sure, she doesn't feel good about the situation that's happening right now. She probably didn't even see the news. Sometimes when you're pregnant, you just want to get away from all the negativity. God blesses”, said another trying to calm things down.

The fire

The fire that affected the island of Maui, in Hawaii, started on Wednesday (09). To date, it has been recorded that more than 50 people have been killed. Many threw themselves into the sea to escape the flames.

According to CNN, the flames have been fueled by strong winds and dry conditions in the area.
