Krejcíková – A day after winning the singles title, Czech Barbora Krejcíková also won the doubles tournament at Roland Garros. Together with her compatriot Katerina Siniaková, she was too strong for American Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Iga Swiatek of Poland in the final, 6-4 and 6-2.
Krejcíková and Siniaková were the best at a Grand Slam for the third time. In 2018 they won both Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
Frenchwoman Mary Pierce was the last tennis player to win both singles and doubles in Paris 21 years ago. In 2000 she won the doubles with Martina Hingis.
The 25-year-old Krejcíková beat Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 in a thrilling singles final on Saturday.
Thanks to her first singles victory at a Grand Slam, Krejcíková will rise from 33rd to 15th in the world rankings. She passes Kiki Bertens, who is 20th in the new WTA ranking.
