Lady Gaga reveals how she gained weight for her role in Gucci

Fully committed to her role in “House of Gucci”, Lady Gaga invested in a diet rich in carbohydrates to gain more weight and look more like Patrizia Reggiani, the Italian socialite played in the film. Check out the Trailer below:

In an interview with The Hollywood Reportershe said she ate more pasta and bread than usual to gain more weight and curves. “My mom and dad met me as Patrizia a few times. And they would laugh because my family was amused by my love of art.”said 35-year-old Gaga.

Lady Gaga is American of Italian descent, and the film gave her a chance to delve deeper into her cultural heritage and then understand her character. “My family always put as much food on the table as they could to celebrate the good fortune that comes from hard work. I’ve tried really hard to dig into my ancestry and kind of reverse the car, do a reverse assimilation. How do I get out of this Italian-American thing and dig deeper into what it means to be an Italian woman?”

The actress and singer revealed in her interview another very difficult part of her preparation as Patrizia: improving her Italian accent, a role she worked on for 6 months before filming began. “If I can sing rock 'n' roll, jazz, country or pop music, I knew I could speak with a specific northern Italian accent. It's about knowing how to use your voice, and knowing why, where, with whom and how to feel while you're doing it,” said the singer. And she added, “There's a downside to committing to a role like that, because it's an adjustment for everyone around you. Suddenly, you're not talking to Stefani with an accent anymore. You're talking to Patrizia Gucci.”

The film directed by Ridley Scott is based on the true story of the murder of Maurizio Gucci, heir to the brand, in 1995. Patrizia, his ex-wife, was accused and convicted of the crime in 1998, and was imprisoned for 18 years.
