Legends Museum opens 1st exhibition on diversity in football

Exhibition made in partnership with LALIGA, Liga F and Bundesliga will be temporarily on display at the museum located in Madrid; check details

The LEGENDS Museum, The Home of Football, in partnership with LALIGA – via LALIGA VS – together with League F and the Bundesliga, launched the 1st exhibition “Football, together for diversity. The event also has the participation of PUMA, sponsor of the Spanish league and the F League.

This temporary installation aims to show football fans and museum visitors that the football industry is increasingly committed to combating homophobia by promoting safe, diverse and hate-free spaces. More than 20 projects and items created in recent years by various leagues and clubs were brought together to reinforce that sport is diverse, inclusive and there is no place for intolerance.

Significant and highly symbolic items

In this unprecedented exhibition, several objects with powerful messages supporting inclusion will be on display. These items, provided by clubs and leagues, have been used to promote equality and diversity in recent seasons.

Among them are the flags of FC Barcelona in the LGBTQIAPN+ colors displayed at the Camp Nou every June and the commemorative t-shirts in the colors of the community that the Athletic Club created with the names of legendary players from its men's and women's teams.

In addition, the clubs also donated special armbands, used by captains as a reminder of the importance of supporting the LGBTQIAPN+ community, promoting diversity on and off the field. O CD Tenerifein turn, contributed a corner flag with the colors representing the community, used in the game against the CD Eldense in celebration of the International Day against gender hatred in sport.

On behalf of League F, the RCD Espanyol of Barcelona joined the initiative by sharing the armband that their captain Carol Marin used it in a game this season to raise awareness of the fight against gender hatred in the world of sport. Costa Adeje Tenerife also donated this season's third uniform and captain's armband to the collection, which features the colors of the LGBTQIAPN+ flag.

Liga F itself also contributed to the exhibition with its 'Love for Colors' campaign, launched on February 19 to raise awareness of the importance of combating homophobia. LEGENDS now displays some of the thousands of shoelaces distributed to players, referees, fans and young players on this occasion.

Meanwhile, PUMA, sponsor of LALIGA and the F League, contributed to the exhibition with the third kit launched in partnership with the AC Milan this season, celebrating the passionate and inclusive culture that both the sports brand and the club value.

A global initiative that transcends borders

The Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL), the German football league, expressed its desire to participate in the inaugural exhibition, reaffirming that football is united worldwide in this fight. Recently, the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2, together with the DFL Foundation, launched the TOGETHER campaign! END THE HATE. BE A TEAM.

This project aims to highlight the importance of eliminating discrimination in all dimensions of diversity. As part of the initiative, the ball, commemorative t-shirt and armband worn by players a few months ago will be on display at LEGENDS in the coming weeks.
