Lewis Hamilton wears clothes in honor of Ayrton Senna in São Paulo

Proving once again his love for Ayrton Senna and Brazil, Lewis Hamilton arrived at the Autódromo de Interlagos, this Thursday (31), wearing an outfit paying homage to the Brazilian driver. This Sunday morning (3), the tribute continued after Hamilton took a lap around the track in the McLaren MP4/5B, the car in which Senna won his two-time world champion title in 1990.

Elevation in style

With the exclusive look designed by German designer Gerrit Jacob, known for his technique of painting leather pieces using airbrush, the British driver was wearing a t-shirt with Ayrton Senna's face, the phrase “Rest in peace” and the Brazilian’s name on both the front and back of the piece.

Lewis was still wearing green and yellow pants, printed with the Brazilian flag and coconut leaves. “Every time we come to Brazil it’s an opportunity to celebrate Senna”he said at a press conference. Hamilton also reported that he had selected a special helmet to use in the Senna tribute race on Sunday.

A special relationship with Brazil

This is not the first time that the Englishman has paid homage to his idol in his clothes. Last year, he also wore another set by the designer, made for his arrival in the country, with completely vegan leather fabrics painted in green, yellow and blue. The seven-time champion's look at the time consisted of a jacket with the same print of Senna's face with the helmet that is on this year's shirt and pants also with the national flag.

In the same period, Hamilton paraded around the paddock wearing a tracksuit from Brazil's technical committee in the 1994 World Cup. In 2022, in recognition of his love for the country, the driver received an honorary Brazilian title, even having a session in the Chamber of Deputies in Brasilia. Additionally, he has used several helmets with the predominant colors of the flag.
